Tuesday, I skipped one class to attend Giuliano's funeral. Then, I caught a bus to go back to class after. The bus went along Rome's main east-west thoroughfare through the historic center. Looking out the window, I had to rub my eyes to believe them, for there was on the road going the opposite direction a cistercian habit on roller-blades. I did not have a good look, but it was obviously a white habit with black scapular and coat, and just zipping up the road! 'Twas one of those moments when I wished I had my camera and the presence of mind to use it.
Later, at the Angelicum, I saw a student in a similar habit, and told him my story. He calmly thanked me and said, "It happens," and then walked into his theology classroom.
