Naples and Capri

Okaasan really loved her time in Alberobello.  And then we had some adventures between there and Rome on the trip back.

 The other place Okaasan really wanted to go on this trip was Capri, to see the Blue Grotto.  It had been hot and sunny while we were in Rome, and while we were in Apulia, but in Naples, and Capri, it was overcast and wet.  So, we went to our hotel in Naples, and then went to the port to go to Capri where we were to catch a boat to the Blue Grotto.  But. Well.  The ferry over was rather bumpy, and when we arrived in Capri, the port was closed--no boats going either to or from the Blue Grotto, or anywhere else around the island.  We stopped for a late lunch near the port, where i took a picture of the local orata fish dish (above), and the view from table, (below).

 So, after that whole trip out there, we didn't see much, and took the ferry right back.  But we got a phone number to call before making the whole trip back out there again.  And the next day we took our luggage to the train station, and spent the day waiting around the train station for the port in Capri to open before going out there.  But, you'll never guess, the port there didn't open that day at all, and we came back to Rome, where we ate supper at a restaurant called Blue Grotto.

It turns out that we were lucky to get a train back to Rome, because that night (after we arrived), someone stole about 800m of copper wire from the overhead lines, effectively preventing train travel the next day.  Which means that Okaasan and I took a taxi to the airport when sending her off yesterday.
